Building Resilient Communities
Building Resilient Communities
This is about helping communities feel supported and connected, so they are better able to prepare for, respond to, and recover from challenges like emergencies and climate events, economic downturns, and wider health and demographic pressures.
It includes strengthening local relationships, improving infrastructure, and making sure support services are in place and easy to access.
Communities don’t have to wait until something happens to start building resilience. When people have strong, supportive networks around them, they are better prepared for whatever the future brings. Just as importantly, those connections help create a stronger sense of belonging, build better relationships, and improve everyday life for local residents.

Community Emergency Planning
ACT works with rural communities across Cumbria to support and raise awareness of Community Resilience and Emergency Planning.

Community Action – starting a group
Setting up a new group is very exciting. However, it can be a bewildering experience, so many options, so much information to consider, but where do you start?

Warm Hubs and Community Exchanges
Warm hubs and community exchanges are local grassroots initiatives designed to combat isolation, fight fuel poverty, and connect residents with vital support services.

Good Neighbours Schemes (Neighbourliness)
Good Neighbours Schemes are community run initiatives linking people who are in particular need, with community volunteers who are willing to help.
