PRCCG Services

Emotional support

This service is called ‘Making SENSE of Trauma’ and has been designed and developed over a number years in partnership with a trauma consultant, experienced counsellors and survivors. Our aim is to walk alongside survivors giving them tools, resources and coping mechanisms to bounce forward from their trauma. This service is also available to those who are supporting a loved one who has experienced sexual violence.

This service is ideal for

  • Available to survivors aged 14 and above
  • Available to supporters aged 18 and above
  • Available to all genders
  • Delivered via telephone, email, text and via online video calls
  • Sessions delivered on a fortnightly basis over 16 weeks

Advocacy

Our advocacy service is delivered by Independent Sexual Violence Advocates. We use the terms ‘ISVA’ when supporting adults and ‘ChISVA’ when supporting children and young people. Our team of ISVAs and ChISVAs will support survivors through the criminal justice process but also offer informed choice sessions to those who are thinking of reported to the police but are unsure about where to start. The role of an ISVA is set out by the Home Office to provide emotional/practical support, be survivor led and independent from any other organisation (including the police)

This service is ideal for

  • Available to all ages and all genders
  • Support provided in person, via telephone, email, text and via online video calls
  • Support available depending on your needs and throughout the criminal justice process

Before I reached out for help from Peterborough Rape Crisis I did struggle but I had no idea what the route cause was and with this help I was able to better understand what happened to me and what has caused this and I feel like I am in the processing phase. It has almost been 20 years and only for the last 6 months or so I have only understood what has happened to me. it is still kind of fresh. I think I would say (most valued) defiantly Tracy’s knowledge, she’s a very knowledgeable person, and helped me understand that I was victim and I was reminded that it was not my fault. She helped me uncover things about myself, I was living in constant guilt and shame about what happened 20 years ago, the support I was offered opened my eyes and made me realise it was not my fault, and it was the other person who should have those feelings. The communication was very well and Tracy was very thorough. You guys are really great. I would love to become part of the team. I would be able to work in the kind of field because I relate. I wouldn’t speak from experience but I think I would be a good fit and id like to help people too.”
